You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give ‐ Winston Churchill
Why Volunteer?
One of the strengths of Smyrna-Clayton area is its small-town, community-first attitude. Those that live in the area, even those that didn’t grow up here and have recently arrived, come to recognize it as welcoming community. The Smyrna-Clayton community embraces their residents and makes the area a wonderful place to live and raise a family. In response, people feel a responsibility to give back to the community. The founders of this program began with the altruistic idea to provide the children in the Smyrna-Clayton area with an affordable option to play soccer. It was started with a volunteering spirit and a commitment to the children in our community. It is this same responsibility that drives many wonderful people in our area to coach the children in our league.
The key to all of this is that we ask people like you to be our volunteer coaches.
By volunteering, you are making a commitment to give back to your community by contributing to the health and happiness of the children in the Smyrna-Clayton area. Volunteer coaches, managers, and buddies are role models of character, dedication, responsibility, and sacrifice. Giving freely of your time and talents is a very honorable and humble gesture. Hopefully, you are made to feel appreciated by the players and parents on your team. Know that what you are doing will greatly benefit our children and help them to have a wonderful experience. At the very least, you have our everlasting thanks and appreciation for helping us achieve our goal of bringing soccer to the Smyrna-Clayton area.

Coaches Make this Work
The “Volunteer Coach Program” in the Smyrna-Clayton Soccer Club is an essential part of why our members have so much fun with the programs that we offer. Every coach and manager is directly contributing to the positive experience that our members will have during the course of the leagues, and, for that, we are grateful. Your time and energy to put together fun and engaging training sessions is the key to keeping our members happy and enjoying the game! No matter what your starting point, there will always be available resources to help you be successful as a youth soccer coach. It is our mission to motivate the coaches so that each and every SCSC member can feel good about the quality of instruction and the overall service they receive while participating in our programs. This process of development is as much for the coaches as it is for our members.
Coaches Handbook
Each Volunteer will receive a thorough Coaching Handbook that provides a complete guide to what you can expect as a team coach. The handbook includes advice, strategies, training session guidelines, complete practice plans, and various resources to use as you begin to organize fun exercises for training your team.
