SMYRNA CLAYTON SOCCER CLUB

Volunteer Today

You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give ‐ Winston Churchill

Why Volunteer?

One of the strengths of Smyrna-Clayton area is its small-town, community-first attitude.  Those that live in the area, even those that didn’t grow up here and have recently arrived, come to recognize it as welcoming community.  The Smyrna-Clayton community embraces their residents and makes the area a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  In response, people feel a responsibility to give back to the community.  The founders of this program began with the altruistic idea to provide the children in the Smyrna-Clayton area with an affordable option to play soccer.  It was started with a volunteering spirit and a commitment to the children in our community.  It is this same responsibility that drives many wonderful people in our area to coach the children in our league.

The key to all of this is that we ask people like you to be our volunteer coaches.

By volunteering, you are making a commitment to give back to your community by contributing to the health and happiness of the children in the Smyrna-Clayton area.  Volunteer coaches, managers, and buddies are role models of character, dedication, responsibility, and sacrifice.  Giving freely of your time and talents is a very honorable and humble gesture.  Hopefully, you are made to feel appreciated by the players and parents on your team.  Know that what you are doing will greatly benefit our children and help them to have a wonderful experience.  At the very least, you have our everlasting thanks and appreciation for helping us achieve our goal of bringing soccer to the Smyrna-Clayton area.

Volunteer Opportunities

Assistant Coaches
Each team is assigned at least one coach, but they could really use the help and support from others. No previous experience is necessary to be an assistant coach. Every volunteer will be provided with continuous support from our experienced staff. Each volunteer coach will receive a thorough Coaching Handbook that provides a complete guide to what you can expect. The handbook includes advice, strategies, training session guidelines, complete practice plans, and various resources to use as you begin to organize fun exercises for training your team.

Parent Volunteer
Each team can really use a manger to help organize the team roster. The primary responsibilities are to establish a snack schedule within their team and help notify parents when there is a cancellation to the sessions. No previous experience is needed.

Junior Coaches (Middle School & High School Volunteers)
As a community-based program, we encourage everyone to give back to the Smyrna-Clayton area.  If local students/players want to give back to our program by volunteering, we strongly encourage them to do so.  Junior Coaches will be paired up with a team and be an assistant and helping hand for the coach.  When possible, the students will remain with a single team for the entire season. WAll volunteers interested in being a Junior Coach should contact the Club Director, Ryan Buchanan for approval [email protected].
