My child is registered for the league but I have not received any information about his team.
While coaches may reach out to their players prior to the season, players are given their team information and field assignment on the first day of the league. All players are asked to come early and check in at the first practice day when they will also collect their ball and t-shirt.
I have not been contacted from a coach about practices.
Our league is organized so that practice and games are combined into one session. Players are involved with skills specific training for the first 30 minutes followed by a 15 minute scrimmage. There is a short period for a drink break in-between. There are no additional practice days outside of Saturday morning.
Where are the fields located?
Our playing fields are located behind Smyrna High School on Duck Creek Pkwy. You can get specific directions to the fields by clicking the “Field Location and Directions” tab from the navigation menu.
My child is 9 years old can he still play?
The age limits for member registration is 3-8 yrs. old. There are no current plans to extend these age limits; however parents of children who are still interested beyond the age of 8 should consider looking at newly added competitive and travel teams or programs offered by other local clubs in the state. It should be noted that Smyrna Clayton Soccer Club does use the child’s birth date at the start of the particular season.
We will be away vacation during the season, who do we tell?
It is not necesay to send Smyrna Clayton Soccer Club an email about your child’s absence from training for any reason. It is encouraged tat you communicate this to your specific team coach so that they can adequately prepare for the sessions, but there is no penalty or consequences for missed practices..
My check has not been cashed yet. I just wanted to make sure my children are registered.
Once you register your child on the SCSC online registration system you will receive an email confirmation to let you know that the registration was completed fully and you are signed up as a member. We encourage all payments to be made online with a credit card; however payments made by check or cash will only be collected on the first Saturday of the league. Please do not send payments in the mail. Payments made by check are deposited into the club account after the first day of the league.
What equipment do I need to buy my child to play in the league?
There are no mandatory equipment costs for participation in the league; however we do encourage parents to consider the basic safety gear e.g. shin guards and cleats. These can be found at most general stores at reasonable prices. Players should wear comfortable and appropriate athletic clothing based on the weather conditions.
It is supposed to rain this Saturday how will I know if training has been cancelled?
In the event that training is cancelled due to field or weather conditions we will post this on the club website as well as our Facebook page. In additon we will send a league-wide email and ask the coaches to follow up with their players. We also have free text notification that can be sent to a cell phone for those parents who wish to sign up.
My child has a few friends who are in the league; can they be put on the same team?
Although there is no guarantee, we do make every effort to accommodate all requests for team assignments. Please indicate specific request during registration. Please note that any changes must be between the respective age groups.
